Richard Fleeshman Won't Rule Out Coronation Street Return
Feb 27 2008 Exclusive by Beverley Lyons And Laura Sutherland
FORMER Coronation Street actor and winner of Soapstar Superstar, Richard Fleeshman, says he hasn't closed the door on soaps - or on dating another actress again.
Richard, who left Corrie to pursue a singing career, kicked-off his UK tour at Glasgow's King Tut's last night and played songs from his album Neon, including new single Hold Me Close.
But the 18-year-old, who was once voted Sexiest Soapstar after his role as Goth Craig Harris on the soap, reckons he could return one day.
Richard exclusively told the Razz: "I'm not planning on burning any bridges. I never categorically said I wouldn't go back to Corrie. I had an amazing four years and would go back if it was right for me."
Richard split with Emmerdale actress Roxanne Pallett, who was seven years his senior, last year after claiming 'manic work schedules' and 'long distances' were affecting the relationship. Richard said he's still happy being single, but he hasn't ruled out dating someone in the public eye again.
He said: "I'm single now. I'm just going along quite happily with things at the moment. Ironically I'm often far too busy to be looking.
"Being out on the road can be hard.
You can't be with anyone, I have no plans about who I'd date in future. It would be stupid to rule out anything with another actor."
He also revealed he didn't have a chance to pen any songs about his failed romance for his album.
He added: "The album was long finished when we split so it's not in there at all. I'm writing all the time though, so I may try and include it next time."
Richard is enjoying his new life in the music world, but got more than he bargained for when he was filming the video for his first single in London.
He said: "I had to pretend to be hitchhiking, so they sent me off walking on the motorway. The abuse I was getting was unbelievable.
Nobody even stopped."
About starting his tour in Glasgow, he said: "My dad is Scottish. He was born in Glasgow but only lived there for two years.
"My manager is Scottish too. I'm going to try to come up during the summer.
"Scotland is great for watersports."
